Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck twice late to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
